Origin Point Games sets African showcase for November 12th

Origin Point Games will stream a showcase of African-made games on YouTube on November 12th at 8pm SAST, which is 7pm in Nigeria.

The platform, which describes itself as a discovery service for games made in Africa by Africans, said an external advisory board picked the lineup by blind judging.

Reviewers saw only the game, not the studio behind it, and the result was “a lineup chosen purely on merit, creative ambition, and showcase potential.” You can watch the showcase on the official OPG YouTube Channel.

About 30 games and a shadow drop

Organiser Nicky Visentin said that about 30 games will appear. Around 20 get dedicated introductions and trailers, and a separate segment covers about nine that have already launched. One developer plans to release a game during the broadcast. Submissions included developers in Senegal, Cameroon and Madagascar.

Visentin, who works full time at 24 Bit Games, added that: “Sometimes funding isn’t what’s needed. Sometimes it’s just getting out there.”

Tunisian Gamers TV, Playtopia, Global Game Jam, Devolver Digital and IESA are among the partners. Submissions are closed for 2026, and developers can apply for future shows on the Origin Point Games website.

The showcase follows the Afro Game Showcase, which Narratify ran on June 25th and unveiled 22 titles.
