Overview

Sea Monster Entertainment is a Cape Town-based impact gaming studio founded in 2011 by CEO Glenn Gillis, a UCT Business Science graduate who previously served as GM of Clockwork Zoo, one of South Africa's largest 2D and live TV production companies. The studio focuses on creating interactive experiences that drive behavioural change across education, brand engagement and social development.

Operating for over 13 years, Sea Monster has produced more than 26 hours of animation for clients including Disney, alongside web-based and mobile-first games and immersive AR, VR and virtual world experiences. Its portfolio spans corporate, nonprofit and educational partnerships, including "Livin' It Up," a gamified financial literacy tool built for Capitec Bank, and ongoing work with Nedbank and the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation.

Intelligence

Sea Monster has spent 15 years building an impact games business focused on using games beyond entertainment, with more than 80 impact games developed across education, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, behaviour change and social impact.

The company operates through custom client work while increasingly looking to build products, businesses and joint ventures around its core vision. CEO Glenn Gillis says the long-term ambition is to build a business that can operate beyond its founders.
