Chroma Pixel Games reveals Toys All Race, a racer built on African childhood play
Players follow young racers Alice, Jaggari and Edward as they compete to become the greatest toy racers
Zambian studio Chroma Pixel Games has revealed Toys All Race, a multiplayer racing game inspired by the handmade toy cars that children built from wire, bottle caps and recycled materials.
The studio says the game draws on childhood races such as “Tuka Do Li,” in which dusty streets and narrow pathways became tracks. Players follow young racers Alice, Jaggari and Edward as they compete to become the greatest toy racers.
Their journey runs through the Junkyard Compound, controlled by Ricki, a rude and mysterious junk collector who guards piles of forgotten treasures and rare mechanical parts.
Scrap as currency
Items scattered across races, including bottle caps, wires and scrap materials, feed the game’s economy. Players spend them to upgrade vehicles, unlock customisation options and build more powerful racers.
Chroma Pixel Games describes Toys All Race as a live-service multiplayer game. Players can race online, unlock characters, enter tournaments and take part in seasonal events, with continuous updates planned. The Google Play listing carries a Racing category, a 3+ rating and in-app purchases.
“More than a racing game, Toys All Race transforms African childhood memories into a global racing universe,” the studio says.
You can pre-register for the game on the Google Play Store.
