Dash Studios sets Nouns Hunt global launch for November 17th
Nouns Hunt the first phase of a roadmap that includes more genres and a PC release
Dash Studios revealed that Nouns Hunt, its Nigerian word game built on Name, Animal, Place, Thing, will launch globally on November 17th.
The studio shared the date at Africacomicade’s Gamathon in Lagos following a playtest. It described the test as simple: put a game everyone already knows on a phone, add a live leaderboard and see what happens.
Dash Studios took three lessons into launch. Familiar mechanics travel, since nobody needed a tutorial. A visible leaderboard intensified the competition. And, in the studio’s words, “Nigerian players want games that feel like home.”
From beta to worldwide
Nouns Hunt has been available in beta on iOS and Android. The studio says it has players in 53 countries, multiplayer rooms of up to 50 players, and a word database of more than 30,000 words across over 25 categories.
Dash Studios, founded in 2022, is a fully remote team spread across Nigeria, Kenya, Australia, the UK and the US, led by CEO John Ikpeme. It says its goal is to raise the share of gaming revenue that stays in Africa from roughly 3% to 30%.
It calls Nouns Hunt the first phase of a roadmap that includes more genres and a PC release, and its next title, Nouns Attack, is in closed beta. Nouns Hunt launches globally on November 17th.
