Gamathon 2026 Kicks Off in Lagos With Theme "Back to Our Roots"
The seventh edition runs until October 31st and moves to Kenya
Gamathon 2026 has kicked off in Lagos today, with an invite-only industry dinner that opens a week of events for Africa's games, animation, comics and extended reality sector.
Organizer Africacomicade said the seventh edition runs until October 31st and moves to Nairobi, Kenya on November 26th to 28th. It is themed "Back to our Roots," which the team describe as a way to realign with the realities of the sector.
Last year's edition ran across hubs in Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa and Kenya, and ended with an industry documentary. That edition urged stakeholders to strengthen their own structures before expanding beyond the continent.
